New development of the Iupital™ 05 Series

Mitsubishi Engineering-Plastics Corporation has developed a new polyacetal, the Iupital™ 05 Series, that reduces the generation of formaldehyde.

In general, polyacetals are slightly decomposed in molding and further processing (e.g., cutting, welding, etc.), and formaldehyde is thus generated. For the Iupital™ 05 Series, however, by optimizing our manufacturing technology, we have succeeded in reducing the amount of formaldehyde generated to approximately half of that of the conventional grades.

With the Iupital™ 05 Series, formaldehyde odors, which become a problem in molding and further processing, are reduced and working environments are expected to be improved. In addition, mold deposits become hard to generate, which can possibly decrease the frequency of mold maintenance. Please also refer to the figures showing the advancements of our technology on the next page.

This technology can be applied to grades with various flowability; thus, we will offer a wide range of options, including the standard grade F20-05 and the high-fluidity types F30-05 and F40-05.
